Asthma is a condition in which there is reversible narrowing of the air passages. This narrowing can be triggered in many different ways, but the common underlying mechanism is chronic inflammation of the lining of the air passages. This inflammation causes:
It seems ironic that asthma is becoming more common even as we acquire more knowledge of it's causes and treatments.
